What Is Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt?
Yellow Belt is the foundation level of Lean Six Sigma. It teaches you how a process works, how to define a problem and how to support an improvement project using facts instead of guesses.
A Yellow Belt usually contributes process knowledge, helps define and observe the process, collects basic data, uses foundation-level problem-solving tools and supports Green or Black Belt-led improvement work. Some organisations also use Yellow Belts for small local improvements; larger DMAIC projects are normally led at higher belt levels.
Why Choose EduDelphi?

Learn each idea in simple language and see how it works in a real process.

Yellow Belt or Green Belt?
Choose the level that matches the work you want to do.
| Level | Best for | Typical role |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow Belt | Beginners and project team members | Understand DMAIC, use core tools and support an improvement project |
| Green Belt | People ready to lead a scoped project | Plan and lead DMAIC work, analyse evidence and sustain results |

- Build a simple SIPOC and process map.
- Choose useful measures and organise the facts.
- Use Pareto, fishbone and 5 Whys to study causes.
- Suggest practical changes and decide how to check the result.
Ask for extra support if you want to apply the method to a suitable process in your own organisation.

See How We Teach a Yellow Belt Question
A customer-service team receives many repeat calls. The manager wants to train every employee again. What should the Yellow Belt team do first?
What is being tested?
Problem definition and evidence before choosing a solution.
Why B is strongest
The team first needs to understand the pattern and likely causes of repeat calls.
Why the others are weaker
They choose a solution or blame a person before the cause is known.
Yellow Belt principle
Do not jump from symptom to solution before defining and measuring the problem.
This is an original EduDelphi teaching scenario. It is not an official, live or recalled examination question.
