CAMS Course in South Africa — At a Glance
EduDelphi provides independent CAMS preparation. ACAMS controls its own eligibility, membership, certification package, application, examination, recertification and official pricing.

Who should take a CAMS course in South Africa?
CAMS is most useful when anti-money-laundering controls, customer risk, investigations, sanctions, reporting or financial-crime governance are already becoming part of your work.
AML and compliance professionals
For teams working with onboarding, CDD, EDD, screening, monitoring, reporting or control testing.
Banking, payments and fintech teams
For professionals who need a stronger risk lens around customers, transactions, products and escalation decisions.
Audit, legal and investigations professionals
For people supporting investigations, governance, regulatory response, internal controls or financial-crime advisory.
Choose the route for the work you want to do. CAMS is a focused financial-crime credential; it is not a substitute for every audit, law, fraud, risk or general accounting qualification.

How CAMS Fits South Africa’s FICA, FIC & Financial-Crime Environment
CAMS provides a global anti-financial-crime framework. In South Africa, professionals also work within the FIC Act and institution-specific requirements. Accountable institutions need risk-based frameworks covering RMCP governance, customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, PEPs, targeted financial sanctions, transaction monitoring, suspicious and unusual transaction reporting, record keeping and employee training.
CAMS does not replace FICA-specific legal advice or institution-specific regulatory training. Its value is strengthening the broader AML/AFC framework professionals use alongside those local obligations.
Updated context: FATF removed South Africa from its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring on 24 October 2025 after the country completed its action plan. Sustaining effective AML/CFT/CPF capability remains important. For live requirements, internal policies and reportable matters, teams should use their own legal and compliance governance alongside guidance from the Financial Intelligence Centre.

- Customer, product, channel and geographic risk, typologies and red flags
2. Global AFC Frameworks, Governance and Regulations
- FATF standards and global AML/CFT/CPF frameworks
- Sanctions, governance and beneficial-ownership themes
- Risk-based approaches and supervisory expectations
3. Building an AFC Compliance Program

CAMS Exam Format, Questions & Pearson VUE Testing
The official CAMS examination is separate from EduDelphi training. ACAMS currently administers a computer-based exam with 120 multiple-choice questions and a 3.5-hour time limit. After ACAMS approves an application, candidates receive instructions to book through Pearson VUE and currently have six months to take the exam.

Pearson VUE

ACAMS currently lists a US$299 exam-retake fee and a US$100 exam-extension fee when requested before eligibility expires. Verify live policies and fees before payment.
Plan eligibility, study and the official CAMS process as separate steps.
ACAMS currently requires an active membership and 40 eligibility credits before a CAMS application can be submitted. Credits can come from education, professional experience, certifications and financial-crime training. ACAMS makes the eligibility decision.

12 credits
currently available through ACAMS Virtual Classroom
Membership is mandatory but does not itself count toward the 40-credit total. Education, relevant AFC experience, professional certifications and eligible training can contribute further credits; ACAMS makes the final eligibility determination.
Plan your ZAR training fee and official ACAMS costs separately.
EduDelphi fees are quoted in ZAR according to your delivery route. Instalment and EMI options can be discussed when you enquire. ACAMS controls its own certification package and fees, which are shown in USD and may be subject to local tax.

Current CAMS certification-package reference. ACAMS also lists US$1,595 for eligible public-sector candidates and a virtual-classroom package reference of US$2,495 / US$2,095.
These official package references include study resources, core and elective eLearning, exam simulator and the CAMS certification exam. ACAMS membership is required and its live price should be verified before payment.
Official fee references were checked against ACAMS in August 2026 and are not included in EduDelphi tuition unless a written package states otherwise.
CAMS, a local AML programme, CIA or CFE?
Choose based on the professional problem you need to solve next, not only the longest credential name.
| Route | Core focus | Usually best when |
|---|---|---|
| CAMS | Global AML/AFC specialist credential | Your role centres on AML, KYC, sanctions, monitoring or financial crime. |
| South Africa FICA / AML programme | FIC Act and local obligations | You need operational South African regulatory compliance. |
| CFE | Fraud examination and investigations | Fraud casework or investigation is your primary direction. |
| CIA | Internal audit, assurance and governance | Broader internal audit is the core career path. |
CAMS Career Relevance in South Africa
Progress can support stronger conversations about customer risk, onboarding evidence, monitoring alerts, sanctions screening, escalation and control design. It does not guarantee a job, promotion or salary increase; outcomes also depend on role scope, experience, employer needs and market conditions.
In Shyam’s teaching, learners get more value when they connect course concepts to a decision they actually face: whether an alert needs escalation, what evidence is missing, how a policy should work in practice, or how a risk narrative should be documented.
AML / compliance
AML analyst, senior AML analyst, compliance officer or manager.
Customer risk
KYC, CDD or EDD analyst supporting onboarding and reviews.
Screening and monitoring
Sanctions screening or transaction-monitoring analyst.
Financial-crime work
Investigator, AFC advisory professional, or MLRO/deputy-MLRO pathway.

Learn with a trainer who connects theory to professional judgement.
Shyam Sarrof
CPA (USA), CMA (USA), ACA, ACMA, CS, CFA, ACTM, MBA, B.Com (H)
With 22+ years of professional experience and more than 13 years guiding finance and compliance learners, Shyam helps professionals make sense of risks, controls, reporting and decision-making without reducing the subject to memorised terminology.
Faculty perspective: the candidates who progress steadily are not always the ones who start with the most AML experience. They are usually the ones who practise interpreting a scenario early, identify why a control exists and revisit weak areas before the final mock phase.
Training shaped around the realities of professional teams.
EduDelphi has supported learning for professionals and teams connected with widely recognised organisations. Corporate CAMS routes can be planned nationwide around attendance, role mix and the team’s learning priorities.

We teach CAMS through realistic cases, not theory in isolation.
At EduDelphi, case-study discussion is an important part of CAMS learning. Over the past decade, this approach has helped learners turn technical concepts into practical judgement: what to question, what evidence matters, how risk signals connect and when escalation needs a clearer narrative.
Example: a business customer has regular domestic activity, then begins making larger payments through a new channel. The documentation looks complete, but the transaction pattern does not clearly match the customer profile and one director is difficult to verify.
Learners consider how the facts could interact with customer-risk methodology, ongoing monitoring, CDD evidence and the institution’s RMCP-based escalation process. The purpose is not to provide a legal answer, but to practise disciplined risk reasoning.
