Why Choose EduDelphi for CITF Preparation?

Know the product, understand the risk and explain the best answer. Our CITF teaching connects the syllabus to trade-finance decisions, then reinforces that understanding through guided question review.

Live Explanation & Question Debriefs

Ask questions as settlement methods, documentary credits, guarantees and financing are explained. Learn why a close alternative is weaker—not simply which letter is correct.

Practice That Leads to Revision

Use topic questions, linked case questions, timed tests and unit-wise mocks. Review mistakes with faculty and focus your next study session on the concepts that need attention.

Support Around Your Work

Return to recorded lessons, revise through the LMS and speak directly with faculty. Compare live, self-paced or private routes around your working schedule.

Understand the qualification

What Is CITF and Who Awards It?

CITF means Certificate in International Trade and Finance. It is a LIBF qualification offered through Walbrook Institute London, covering the parties, payment methods, finance, documentation and risks involved in international trade.

Walbrook / LIBF

Sets the official qualification requirements, registration arrangements and assessments, and awards the CITF qualification.

CITF Qualification

A Level 3 qualification within the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework. It builds trade-finance knowledge; it is not a U.S. regulatory license.

EduDelphi Preparation

Provides live teaching, recordings, question practice, mock assessments, revision resources and direct learner support. EduDelphi does not award CITF.

Verify the credential with Walbrook’s official CITF qualification page.

Eligibility and audience

Who Should Take CITF?

CITF is a strong foundation for professionals who need to understand how international trade transactions are settled, financed and documented.

  • Trade-finance and transaction-banking professionals
  • Trade operations, documentary-credit and payments teams
  • Corporate and commercial-banking relationship managers
  • Treasury and working-capital professionals
  • Importers, exporters and international-business teams
  • Early-career professionals entering trade finance

Do You Need Previous Experience?

The current qualification specifies no formal entry requirements. You should be comfortable studying and answering questions in English at Level 3.

Banking or trade experience can help, but you can begin with the fundamentals. Your advisor can discuss a suitable pace based on your background.

Current two-unit qualification

CITF Syllabus: ITPS & ITFD

The current qualification has two mandatory units. EduDelphi preparation follows this structure and connects the topics through examples, practice questions and case-based revision.

Official unit Core learning focus How we reinforce it
International Trade Parties and Settlement Methods (ITPS) Trade environment and participants; bank/customer relationships; financial-crime and sanctions context; settlement methods; documentary collections and credits; guarantees, standbys and relevant international rules. Compare payment risks, identify the parties and obligations, and explain why a settlement method fits a scenario.
International Trade Financing and Documentation (ITFD) Trade documents and Incoterms® 2020; financing choices and supply chain finance; export credit insurance; foreign-exchange risk; sustainability, digital disruption and innovation. Connect documents, financing needs and risk mitigation, then practice applying those relationships to a case.
Settlement Methods, Credits, Collections & Guarantees

Understand open account and advance payment, documentary collection processes, documentary-credit undertakings, and the purpose of guarantees and standbys. Learn the introductory role of frameworks such as UCP 600, URC 522, URDG 758 and ISP98 without treating every instrument as the same payment guarantee.

Documents, Trade Terms & Financing

Connect commercial and transport documents with transaction requirements. Distinguish Incoterms delivery obligations from payment arrangements, and compare financing approaches based on the parties, timing and risks involved.

Risk, Compliance & Digital Trade

Build awareness of fraud, money laundering, sanctions, foreign-exchange exposure and changing trade practices. Use syllabus-level examples to understand the issues; CITF is not a substitute for an employer’s compliance procedures.

Use the current official CITF qualification specification when checking older books or course descriptions. The specification does not publish topic-by-topic exam weight percentages.

Practice with a clear purpose

CITF Practice Questions, Timed Tests & Exam Simulator

Build accuracy first, then build speed. Our 1,500+ practice and revision questions support topic learning, case interpretation and timed assessment preparation.

Topic-Wise Questions

Check understanding after each topic. Return to the concept behind a mistake before moving on to more questions.

Linked Case Questions

Practice carrying information through a scenario, identifying relevant facts and answering the different decisions raised by the case.

Timed Mocks & Simulator

Use unit-wise mock assessments and the simulator to practice pacing. Discuss recurring errors and final revision priorities with faculty.

Learn the reasoning, not just the answer

See How We Explain a CITF Practice Question

Original EduDelphi practice scenario

A U.S. exporter is dealing with a new overseas buyer who requests open-account terms. The exporter cannot yet establish the buyer’s creditworthiness and is concerned about nonpayment. Which action best addresses that concern?

  1. Accept open account because it is common in international trade.
  2. Explore a suitable documentary credit and assess the issuing bank, terms and document requirements.
  3. Use a documentary collection on the assumption that it guarantees payment.
  4. Change the Incoterm on the assumption that this guarantees payment.
View the Best Answer and Trainer Explanation

B is the strongest answer. The problem is payment risk with an unfamiliar buyer. A suitable documentary credit can introduce a bank undertaking, subject to its terms and compliant presentation. The exporter must still assess the issuing bank and the credit’s requirements.

Why the other answers are weaker: A leaves the identified risk unresolved. C confuses the collection process with a bank payment undertaking. D changes delivery-related responsibilities rather than creating a payment guarantee.

The exam skill: Identify the risk actually stated, distinguish instruments correctly and avoid an answer that assumes more protection than the product provides.

This is an original EduDelphi teaching scenario, not an official, recalled or live CITF assessment question.

Preparation versus qualification

What Do You Need to Earn CITF?

Your training choice and your qualification registration are different purchases. Keep these clear when comparing packages.

Item Required? Provider
EduDelphi CITF preparation Optional guided preparation route EduDelphi
Official CITF registration and assessments Yes, to earn the qualification; both mandatory units must be passed Walbrook / LIBF
Official study materials Provided within the current official qualification registration Walbrook / LIBF
Resit assessment Only if you need another attempt; current rules and fees apply Walbrook / LIBF

EduDelphi’s quotation states your training and learning-resource inclusions. Official CITF qualification charges remain separate. You do not need to purchase two instructor-led courses simply to prepare with EduDelphi.

Where Can I Check Official CITF Fees?

Walbrook publishes the current qualification and resit fees on its official CITF page. Those charges are published in GBP; they are not EduDelphi tuition or a fixed USD quotation. Confirm the current amount and any payment-conversion costs before registration.

A practical route to preparation

Recommended CITF Study Plan

Use three stages, with a pace that fits your experience and available study time. The live course provides 40–60 guided hours; reading, revision, questions and mocks continue outside class.

1. Learn Both Units

Complete the teaching and core study material. Build a clear understanding of the parties, settlement methods, documents, financing options and transaction risks before chasing question volume.

2. Practice and Review Mistakes

Work through questions by topic and unit. Review every incorrect answer, revisit weaker concepts and practice interpreting linked case questions.

3. Complete Timed Mocks

Use timed unit-wise mocks and the simulator for final revision. Review errors with faculty and become comfortable making decisions within each one-hour assessment.

Need a faster or more flexible plan? Your trainer can organize the same three stages around your target date. The official specification estimates 200 total qualification hours for a learner without prior knowledge; that is overall study time, not a claim of 200 live teaching hours.
