CITF Qualification Authority and Recognition

Level 3 and Ofqual Regulated
The current CITF is delivered through LIBF, part of Walbrook Institute London, and is registered in the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
ICC Endorsed
The official CITF page identifies the International Chamber of Commerce as endorsing the qualification.
Industry Supported
BAFT and Trade Treasury Payments are identified by the official qualification page as supporting organisations.
These relationships apply to the CITF qualification. EduDelphi independently provides additional preparation and candidate support; they do not mean that ICC, BAFT, TTP, LIBF or Walbrook endorses EduDelphi.
20 Credits
ITPS and ITFD each carry 10 official qualification credits.
200 TQT Hours
The official specification assigns 100 Total Unit Study Time hours to each unit. This is qualification workload, not EduDelphi classroom duration.
CITF Designation
Successful candidates can use the CITF designation after their name under current official guidance.
MLIBF While Studying
Official registration currently includes Member of LIBF status, with applicable career and networking benefits.
Passing CITF currently carries 36 CPD learning hours that can count towards eligible recertification for CDCS, CSDG, CSCF and CITR. This does not mean that CITF itself has the same three-year recertification requirement.
EduDelphi CITF LMS and Revision Hub
Live teaching is reinforced through a structured learning system designed for practice, revision and measurable progress.
EduDelphi combines proprietary notes, trade-flow maps, document checklists, question practice, mock analysis, revision priorities and exam strategies into one preparation system.

CITF Questions, Mocks and Full Exam Simulation
Preparation develops from topic understanding to integrated trade decisions and timed assessment readiness.
1,500+ Practice Questions
Build accuracy through topic sets, mixed-unit questions, case-linked decisions and explained answers.
Multiple Timed Mocks
Test knowledge, case interpretation and time control before the official assessments.
Full CITF Simulator
Practise the current assessment rhythm, review mistakes and focus final revision on the weakest topics.
The course also includes practical case packs, document-review exercises, trade-flow activities, revision tests, faculty clarification and final exam strategies.

EduDelphi supports route selection, registration planning, study sequencing, assessment readiness and official-process guidance. LIBF makes all final registration, RPL, assessment and qualification decisions.

Practical Trade Finance Documents and Case Studies
The course is not limited to definitions. Learners work through trade flows and document packs to understand how a transaction succeeds, where discrepancies arise and how risk changes between parties.
- Commercial invoice and packing-list review
- Bill of lading and transport-document concepts
- Documentary credit flow and discrepancy analysis
- Collection instructions and payment risk
- Guarantee and standby-credit scenarios
- Incoterms, insurance and logistics decisions
- Foreign-exchange and working-capital cases
- Trade-based financial-crime red flags
See How We Teach a CITF Case
An Omani equipment importer is buying machinery worth OMR 420,000 from a new European supplier. The supplier wants payment before shipment, while the importer wants credit terms and is concerned about performance. Shipment is by sea, insurance is required, the invoice is in EUR, and delivery is required within 75 days.
What should the learner assess?
- Payment in advance vs collection vs documentary credit.
- Which risks remain under each settlement method.
- Whether confirmation may be relevant.
- Required commercial, transport and insurance documents.
- Incoterms and responsibility for cost, risk and insurance.
- EUR/OMR foreign-exchange exposure and hedging.
- Working-capital implications for buyer and supplier.
- Sanctions, customer and trade-based financial-crime checks.
- How the commercial financing context changes if an Islamic structure is required.
CITF thinking sequence: commercial objective → parties → settlement method → financing → documents → rules → risk → operational execution.
A strong response does not simply select a product. It explains how the chosen structure allocates payment, documentary, performance, country, bank, FX, operational and compliance risks.
Original EduDelphi practice scenario. It is not an official, recalled or live CITF assessment question.

Why Trade Finance Skills Matter in Oman
Cross-border commerce is structurally important to Oman’s economy and to the banks, corporates and logistics businesses that support it.
Preliminary Q1 2026 figures show approximately OMR 5.3 billion in goods exports and OMR 3.8 billion in imports, producing a trade surplus of about OMR 1.54 billion. Re-exports reached roughly OMR 367 million, up 4.6% year on year.
Oman Vision 2040 also targets stronger export development, active participation in global trade and a more competitive financial sector. CITF topics such as settlement methods, trade documents, documentary credits, guarantees, FX, supply-chain finance and digitalisation therefore connect directly with the operating environment of Omani banks and corporates.
The course uses Oman and GCC-facing examples while keeping preparation aligned to the international CITF syllabus.

Why Islamic Trade Finance Matters for CITF Learners in Oman
Islamic trade finance is expressly included in the current ITFD syllabus and is commercially relevant in Oman.
Oman Banking Context
The Central Bank of Oman reports that Islamic banking assets reached approximately OMR 9.156 billion at the end of 2025, representing around 20% of total banking-sector assets.
Practical Course Context
EduDelphi uses relevant local examples to explain how Sharia-compliant financing structures, documentary credits and commercial trade flows interact, while keeping examination preparation aligned to the international CITF syllabus.

CITF Beyond Letters of Credit: Digital Trade and Transaction Banking
The current ITFD syllabus reaches well beyond traditional documentary products.
Electronic Rules
Understand eURC and eUCP context alongside the traditional rules covered in ITPS.
Digital Trade Infrastructure
Explore digital banks, DLT, smart contracts, IoT, Big Data and Industry 4.0.
Transaction Platforms
Connect MT798, Bank Payment Obligation and emerging ICC developments with modern banking operations.
Technology Risk
Consider AI, data quality, automation and cybersecurity within trade-finance workflows.

CITF Course Questions for Oman Candidates
What does CITF stand for?
CITF stands for Certificate in International Trade and Finance. The current qualification is the LIBF Level 3 Certificate in International Trade and Finance.
What are the two current CITF units?
Unit 1 is International Trade Parties and Settlement Methods (ITPS). Unit 2 is International Trade Financing and Documentation (ITFD). Each unit carries 10 credits and 100 Total Unit Study Time hours under the current specification.
Who awards the CITF qualification?
LIBF, part of Walbrook Institute London, awards the qualification. EduDelphi provides training, preparation resources, candidate guidance and an EduDelphi course-completion certificate.
What is included in EduDelphi’s CITF course?
The course includes live teaching, recordings, both current units, 1,500+ questions, multiple timed mocks, a full simulator, notes, mind maps, practical document exercises, revision strategies, faculty support, registration guidance and career support.
What is the current CITF exam format?
Each unit has a one-hour remote assessment containing 30 standalone multiple-choice questions and two case studies with five linked questions each, for 40 marks per unit.
What is the CITF pass mark and grade?
CITF is graded Pass/Fail. Candidates must score at least 70% in each mandatory unit. The current pass boundary is 70–100%.
How long do I have to complete CITF?
The current official registration period is 12 months. EduDelphi uses flexible batches and builds a study plan around the candidate’s target assessment dates.
When can I register for CITF?
Official registration is currently open throughout the year. EduDelphi batch timing is separate and depends on the active training schedule.
Are there CITF entry requirements?
The current official qualification information does not specify formal academic prerequisites. Candidates should be able to study in English at Level 3. Final registration decisions remain with LIBF.
Can previous trade-finance study exempt me from a CITF unit?
LIBF’s current specification recognises prior learning and states that, in some circumstances, a candidate may not be required to sit every unit. Any RPL decision is made through the official LIBF process; EduDelphi cannot award exemptions.
Can I study CITF while working full-time?
Yes. Flexible weekday, evening, weekend, classroom, live-online, private and blended options are available, supported by recordings and LMS resources.
Can I take the CITF exam from Oman?
Yes. Current assessments are delivered remotely through Brightspace with remote invigilation. No advance booking is currently required, but candidates must complete a 360-degree scan of the testing space and meet the live technical and identity rules.
How many times can I retake a CITF unit?
Under the current specification, an unsuccessful candidate is limited to three exam attempts in a week and ten attempts overall within the 12-month registration period. The current resit fee applies to each resit. Always verify the live rules before another attempt.
How much does CITF cost in Oman?
EduDelphi tuition is quoted separately in OMR. The current official full-qualification fee is £750 and includes official study materials and first assessment entry for both units. Current resit and optional additional mock-specimen fees are separate.
Can I use CITF after my name?
Yes. The current official qualification page states that successful candidates can use the CITF designation after their name.
Does CITF require recertification?
The official page states that CITF provides 36 CPD learning hours towards eligible recertification for CDCS, CSDG, CSCF and CITR. Do not confuse that benefit with CITF itself having the same three-year recertification requirement.
Is CITF the same as a general trade finance course?
No. CITF is a regulated Level 3 professional qualification with a defined syllabus and assessment. A general trade-finance course may be shorter or company-specific and may not lead to CITF.
What is the difference between CITF and CDCS?
CITF provides broad coverage of international trade and trade finance. CDCS specialises in documentary credits, UCP 600, ISBP and document examination. Your role and target capability should determine the route.
Does CITF cover letters of credit and UCP 600?
Yes. Documentary credits and UCP 600 foundations sit within ITPS. Candidates needing advanced documentary-credit depth should consider CDCS preparation.
Is CITF recognised in Oman?
CITF is an international professional qualification relevant to banking, trade operations, transaction banking, treasury and import-export work. It is not an Oman occupational licence, and employer requirements vary by role.
Do you offer Arabic or bilingual support?
Arabic or bilingual teaching support can be discussed for the selected batch or private programme. Confirm current availability with the Oman team.
Can EduDelphi train our trade finance team?
Yes. Private CITF cohorts and customised trade-finance programmes can be delivered online, in Muscat, at an employer workplace or at an agreed location anywhere in Oman.
What career support is available?
Support can include CV and LinkedIn optimisation, role mapping, job applications, interview preparation, recruiter outreach and access to the wider EduDelphi alumni ecosystem.
Official requirements can change. Verify current registration, syllabus, fees and assessment details directly with LIBF/Walbrook.
