What is CISSP?
CISSP stands for Certified Information Systems Security Professional. It is a cybersecurity certification administered by ISC2, covering eight areas of technical and management knowledge. EduDelphi provides the training and support; ISC2 manages the exam and certification.
This course suits security engineers, architects, consultants, IT risk and assurance professionals, and people moving into broader security responsibilities. If you are still building experience, we can help you understand the Associate of ISC2 route.

She uses breach scenarios, access-control failures, investigations and third-party incidents to help learners assess control effectiveness and work through difficult judgement questions.
CISSP Exam Format and Mock Practice
Prepare for the way questions are presented—not just the topics they cover.
| Exam fact | Current format |
|---|---|
| Format | Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) |
| Number of items | 100–150 |
| Maximum time | 3 hours |
| Question types | Multiple-choice and advanced item types |
| Passing standard | 700 out of 1,000 scaled points—not a raw 70% score |
| Testing | Authorised Pearson VUE test locations |
How CISSP CAT Works
CISSP is adaptive: your exam will not look exactly like someone else’s. The system uses your responses to select subsequent questions, while following the official domain weights.
You cannot go back. Once you submit an answer, you cannot review or change it. Practise reading carefully, choosing the best response and moving forward.
CAT questions and results: what should I expect?
- 100–150 items: the total varies according to the adaptive examination rules.
- Stopping at 100 does not reveal your result: candidates can pass or fail at the minimum length. Reaching 150 does not, by itself, tell you the outcome either.
- No numeric score on the normal report: you receive a pass/fail result rather than a numerical score.
- Feedback after an unsuccessful attempt: ISC2 provides domain-level proficiency information to help guide further preparation.
Your test centre provides a provisional result; ISC2 confirms the official result and next steps.
How EduDelphi Mocks Prepare You
Our multiple mocks build mixed-domain reasoning, pacing, concentration and the discipline of answering without going back. Faculty feedback helps you understand mistakes and focus your revision.
EduDelphi mocks do not replicate ISC2’s proprietary CAT algorithm. They are practice assessments, and a mock percentage does not convert into an official CISSP score.
How do I choose an exam appointment?
Use the official ISC2 registration process to choose an available authorised Pearson VUE appointment. Check the current registration and scheduling terms before fixing your exam date.

Can You Take CISSP Without Five Years of Experience?
Yes. You can take the exam before completing the experience needed for full CISSP certification. If you pass first, you can apply to become an Associate of ISC2 while gaining the required experience.
CISSP Experience Requirements at a Glance
| Requirement | Current position |
|---|---|
| Normal CISSP experience | 5 cumulative years of qualifying work experience |
| Domains required | Experience across 2 or more of the 8 domains |
| Degree or approved credential waiver | Maximum 1 year in total—waivers cannot be added together |
| Remaining experience with the full one-year waiver | 4 years of qualifying experience |
| Part-time work and internships | May count under ISC2’s rules and documentation requirements |
| Pass before meeting the experience requirement | Apply for Associate of ISC2 status |
| Associate experience window | Up to 6 years to gain the required experience |
| Post-exam application | Complete the certification or Associate application process within 9 months of passing |
Which degrees and credentials can provide a waiver?
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, IT or a related field may satisfy up to one year of experience. A credential on ISC2’s approved list may also qualify. Holding both does not provide a two-year waiver: the total reduction is limited to one year.
Use the current approved list, not an older eligibility guide. ISC2 makes the final decision on your experience and supporting evidence.
What happens after I pass?
For full certification, complete experience verification and endorsement. If you do not know an eligible endorser, ISC2 can act as your endorser. Candidates without the required experience can use the Associate route instead.
Passing the exam alone does not give you the CISSP designation. Associate of ISC2 status is different from CISSP certification.
We help you understand the process and organise your next steps. Read our CISSP eligibility and experience guide.

Where CISSP Fits in Singapore Security Roles
Connect the curriculum with the environments where security decisions have business consequences.
| Work environment | CISSP connection |
|---|---|
| Banking, fintech and regulated institutions | Risk ownership, governance, identity, third-party assurance and evidence. |
| Regional headquarters and multinational teams | Information ownership, access lifecycle, cross-border services and security responsibilities. |
| Telecom, technology and data centres | Architecture, network protection, resilience, incident response and recovery. |
| Security architecture and consulting | Trade-offs across design, software, networks, controls and business requirements. |
Singapore security-architecture and cyber-audit vacancies mention CISSP alongside relevant experience and other credentials. The qualification can support a professional direction; it does not guarantee a role, promotion or salary increase.
Career examples: Singtel security architecture and Standard Chartered cyber-security audit. Vacancy availability can change.
Try a CISSP-Style Practice Question
Original practice example—not an ISC2 exam question.
A Singapore regional business wants to use a new cloud analytics service. Before approving the design, the security team finds that information ownership, classification and third-party responsibilities have not been established.
What is the most appropriate next step?
- Select an encryption product immediately.
- Approve the service because it meets the availability target.
- Clarify ownership, data requirements and risks with the responsible stakeholders before agreeing controls.
- Delay all cloud projects indefinitely.
Show the answer and explanation
Answer: C. The missing requirements and accountable owners prevent a sound design decision. Encryption may be useful later, but choosing a product does not settle ownership and risk. Availability alone is insufficient, and a blanket ban does not assess this proposal.
The question is asking about the next decision in this situation—not the strongest technical tool in isolation.
A Simple Way to Work Through Scenarios
Faculty use cases and feedback to help you apply this reasoning. It is not a rule to choose a management answer every time: urgent incidents may call for immediate action.
CISSP vs CISM, CISA and CCSP
| Certification | Main focus | Choose it when… |
|---|---|---|
| CISSP | Broad technical and management security knowledge | You want experienced security-professional coverage across eight domains. |
| CISM | Security programme management and leadership | Your direction is managing security programmes and organisational risk. |
| CISA | IT audit, controls and assurance | Your role centres on evaluating systems and control effectiveness. |
| CCSP | Specialist cloud security | Your main direction is security in cloud environments. |

No. EduDelphi tuition covers training and support. The official examination is purchased separately through ISC2. We help you understand registration and scheduling.
Are the mocks the same as the real CAT examination?
No. Our mocks train mixed-domain reasoning, timing and no-backtracking habits. They do not reproduce ISC2’s proprietary adaptive scoring or convert practice percentages into official scores.
How do I maintain CISSP after certification?
Current ISC2 requirements include 120 continuing professional education credits over three years and the applicable annual maintenance fee. ISC2 recommends spreading learning across the cycle. Associate requirements differ. Check the current member policies.
What are the current retake rules?
ISC2’s current waiting periods are 30 days after the first unsuccessful attempt, 60 after the second, and 90 after the third and later attempts. A maximum of four attempts is permitted in a rolling 12-month period. Check the official purchase and examination policies before booking.
