UAE Labour Law 2026

What Is the Current UAE Labour Law?

For most private-sector employment relationships within the federal framework, the core law remains Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, as amended. Later laws and official procedures have changed individual provisions and operating processes, so HR teams should use current consolidated legislation and MoHRE guidance.

Wages and WPS

MoHRE upgraded the Wage Protection System in December 2025. The course connects wage requirements to payroll evidence, authorised deductions and review controls.

2026 employment updates

Current developments include the AED 6,000 minimum wage for Emiratis in the private sector and further digitisation of work-permit and cancellation services.

Health-insurance context

Coverage requirements expanded to targeted private-sector employees and domestic workers in additional Emirates from 2025. Applicability must be checked for the employee and employer.

MoHRE labour disputes

Current rules allow MoHRE to issue final decisions in qualifying individual disputes where the claim does not exceed AED 50,000, and in certain disputes involving non-compliance with an amicable settlement. Learners practise organising the chronology, contract, payroll records and correspondence before escalation.

Apply the correct framework

UAE Labour & Employment Law Training for Global HR Teams

The course teaches learners to identify the employer, worker category and governing framework before applying a rule. Mainland assumptions should not be copied into DIFC or ADGM cases.

Federal and ordinary free-zone route

Most private-sector employment relationships use the federal framework, while free-zone administration, permits and authority processes must still be checked.

DIFC employment law

DIFC maintains a separate framework under DIFC Employment Law No. 2 of 2019, as amended. Learners are taught to check the current consolidated DIFC law and applicable amendments.

Check the DIFC legal database

ADGM Employment Regulations 2024

The ADGM Employment Regulations 2024 took effect on 1 April 2025, replaced the 2019 regulations and apply within ADGM’s separate employment framework.
