Prepare for All Three CIA Exam Parts with a Structured Online Study System
Prepare for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) credential through a structured online CIA course with live online classes, recordings, Gleim CIA Review resources, 5,000+ practice questions, mock exams and an AI-powered LMS. EduDelphi is an IIA Approved Learning Partner; The IIA controls official eligibility, application, examination and certification.
CIA and The IIA: what is the difference?
The CIA is the Certified Internal Auditor credential. The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) governs the official programme, including eligibility, application, assessment, experience verification and certification. EduDelphi provides independent CIA exam preparation as an IIA Approved Learning Partner.
Prepare with IIA Learning Partner Support and Gleim CIA Review Resources
EduDelphi combines trainer-led CIA preparation with structured study resources, question practice, mock exams and guided revision across all three exam parts. The IIA governs the official CIA programme, eligibility, examination and certification.

Confirm your CIA package inclusionsChoose CIA when internal audit, controls and assurance are central to your next role
CIA preparation is designed for professionals building recognised internal-audit capability, not simply collecting another finance credential.
Internal audit professionals
You plan engagements, test controls, report findings, support audit quality or work toward senior internal-audit responsibilities.
External audit, risk and controls professionals
You want to move toward in-house audit, GRC, internal controls, compliance assurance or audit-management work.
Audit and risk teams
Your organisation needs a structured development route for internal auditors, controls teams, risk specialists or emerging audit leaders.
When another route may fit better
CIA is broad internal-audit preparation across governance, risk, controls, engagements and audit-function practice. If your work is specifically IT audit, fraud investigation or a different specialist discipline, another credential may be a better first choice.

What are the CIA eligibility requirements?
Master’s degree: candidates can sit the CIA exams before completing the required experience; The IIA currently requires one year of qualifying experience for certification. Bachelor’s degree: the current requirement is two years. Active IAP: active Internal Audit Practitioner holders receive a Part 1 waiver and complete Parts 2 and 3, while still meeting the applicable CIA experience requirement. Without a degree: candidates can enter through the IAP route, but The IIA currently requires five years of qualifying experience for CIA certification.
Check current CIA eligibility and application requirements from The IIA.
CIA Exam Format: Questions, Duration and Official Scheduling
Exam formats are controlled by The IIA and can change. The figures below reflect the current three-part CIA structure.
150, 120 and 120 minutes
Part 1 allows 2.5 hours. Parts 2 and 3 allow 2 hours each. Practice should build both reasoning quality and pacing.
180 days for each exam registration
The IIA states that an exam registration is valid for 180 days, or until the programme expiration date if that is sooner. Do not wait until your registration is close to expiry to schedule.
You do not have to take Part 1 first
The IIA does not prescribe an exam-part order. Your best sequence can depend on your background, preparation and planned study route.
Plan approximately 8–12 weeks for each CIA part
EduDelphi’s structured study route is commonly planned over around 8–12 weeks per part, depending on the active batch, your work calendar, prior audit experience and intended exam date.
How long does the full CIA journey take? Candidates preparing for all three parts may spread their study over several months. This is an EduDelphi preparation estimate, not an official IIA completion requirement; The IIA gives approved candidates three years to complete the programme requirements.
Prefer a more flexible study route?
A recording-led or self-paced CIA route can support candidates who cannot commit to fixed live-class timings, with LMS access, full Gleim CIA Review resources, question practice, mocks and scheduled faculty support.
Check whether a one-part route may apply
Current Challenge pathways include eligible CPA/CA holders and active CISA holders. The IIA also has a 2026 pilot pathway for professionals with 10+ years of qualifying internal-audit or related experience; confirm the current official criteria and testing window before committing.

CIA learning strengthens an audit and assurance narrative around governance, risk, controls, engagements and audit-function leadership. It does not guarantee a role, promotion or salary outcome.
