You will see several CSCP prices on ASCM’s site. They do not buy the same thing. The US$1,450 figure is the official Learning System at one buyer tier. The current exam-inclusive bundle starts at US$2,620. Membership, retakes, shipping, training and timing can change the amount you eventually spend.

How much does CSCP cost in 2026?
ASCM currently lists the CSCP Learning System + exam + conditional 2nd Chance Exam bundle at US$2,620 for members with the Certification Upgrade and US$3,650 for other buyers. The Learning System alone costs US$1,450 or US$2,015 and does not include the exam. A retake outside an eligible 2nd Chance benefit currently costs US$400 or US$500.[1][2]
ASCM does not currently publish a dependable standalone first-attempt exam-only price in ordinary public text. If you want the exam without the public bundle, use the current price shown in your ASCM account rather than an old third-party number.[2]
The most important distinction
Is US$1,450 the CSCP exam fee?
No. US$1,450 is ASCM’s current member-with-Certification-Upgrade price for the CSCP Learning System, its official self-study preparation product. It is not a standalone first-attempt exam fee. The exam-inclusive public bundle is listed separately at US$2,620 for the lower buyer tier.[1]

ASCM uses two buyer tiers. The lower tier is for members who also hold the Certification Upgrade. Everyone else pays the other-buyer price.

What each purchase actually buys
Learning System, exam and instructor support are different costs.
ASCM’s self-study product includes digital and printed books, online study tools, quizzes, a practice exam, learning activities and the Exam Content Manual. ASCM states that instructor support is not included.[1]
This is the certification assessment controlled by ASCM. Passing it earns the official CSCP credential. The Learning System by itself does not make someone CSCP-certified.
Live teaching, faculty support, recorded explanations, mock review and structured accountability are separate preparation choices unless a written package explicitly includes an ASCM item.
How much is the CSCP exam by itself?
ASCM’s public pages do not currently expose a dependable standalone first-attempt exam-only figure that we would treat as a fixed 2026 price. The public pricing is clear for the Learning System, bundle and retake. If your plan is exam-only, check the live figure inside your ASCM account.[2]
Membership economics
Do you need ASCM membership for CSCP?
No. Membership is not an eligibility requirement. It becomes a pricing decision because certification discounts require the Certification Upgrade. ASCM currently lists standard annual membership at US$99 and the Certification Upgrade at an additional US$100, for a standard combined cost of US$199.[3]
Does the standard US$199 route pay for itself?
At the current published prices, it can. Here is the clean arithmetic before any special membership discount or local partner fee.

One exception: buying membership only for a single retake
The retake-tier difference is US$100: US$400 versus US$500. If you have no membership and your only planned discounted purchase is one retake, spending US$199 on standard membership + Certification Upgrade purely to save US$100 on that retake would increase your total spend. Membership may still be useful for its other benefits or future certification purchases.
Check whether you qualify for discounted membership first.
ASCM currently lists several verified discount categories that include the Certification Upgrade. These rates are reviewed annually, so eligibility must be confirmed with ASCM.[4]

Employer sponsorship can change the decision more than a small price difference.
Among employer-funded learners
That funding can cover very different things. One employer may pay for an official ASCM bundle. Another may reimburse instructor-led tuition after the learner passes. A third may cover the exam but leave membership and preparation to the employee.

Before asking for approval, separate the budget.
A single line that says “CSCP certification” can hide several purchases. Ask what the employer is willing to fund and when reimbursement happens.

Bundle protection
How does the CSCP 2nd Chance Exam work?
The bundle includes a conditional second attempt. It is not two unrestricted exam attempts. ASCM says the first exam credit must be redeemed before it expires, the candidate must test within the qualifying time window, and the first result must be a failure. An absence or no-show does not qualify for the 2nd Chance benefit.[5]
The public CSCP bundle includes the Learning System, exam and conditional second chance.
Redeem it before the credit expires and stay inside the authorization window.
ASCM currently requires testing within 180 days of redeeming the exam credit for 2nd Chance eligibility.
A failed result can trigger the second-chance route. A no-show does not.
If you fail an ASCM certification exam, the current retake policy requires a 14-day waiting period before taking the same exam again.[6]
Purchase timing
Don’t buy the exam far earlier than your study plan needs it.
CSCP purchases come with clocks. ASCM’s current 2026 guidance says Learning System access lasts one year. A standalone Authorization to Test is generally valid for six months, while the bundle route uses a longer purchase window. Your own account will show the controlling expiration date.[2]
Use the study plan to decide when the purchase clock should start.
Buying early can feel productive, but an authorization is not an open-ended reservation. If your study schedule is still vague, first decide how many hours you can protect each week and roughly when you want to test.
The 4.5-month figure is an EduDelphi learner timing metric, not an ASCM recommendation. It gives a practical reference for how working professionals in our learner data have paced the move from starting preparation to booking or sitting the exam.
Simple rule before checkout
Know your intended exam month, read the expiration date attached to the exact product you are buying, and leave enough room for revision or a schedule change. Purchasing the exam does not extend your available study time.

ASCM currently charges US$45 for exam rescheduling and cancellation. Test-center appointments cannot be rescheduled inside the current 48-hour cutoff, while online rules differ. Check the live policy before changing an appointment.[6]

Before comparing two quotations, write down which part is official ASCM cost and which part is teaching or learner support.
A Learning System with no exam and an exam-inclusive bundle solve different parts of the certification route.
Learning access and exam authorizations expire. Purchase timing should follow the study plan rather than a vague intention to certify eventually.
Two companies can both say “CSCP is covered” while one pays upfront and the other reimburses only after a passing result.
You can plan to pass first time and still understand what another attempt would cost. The number is easier to deal with before it becomes urgent.
Pay for it when structure, live explanation, accountability or guided question review will materially improve how you prepare.
The other investment
Money is only one part of the CSCP cost.
ASCM recommends about 100 hours of study on average for a certification exam. It is an average, not a requirement or pass guarantee.[2]

Does CSCP have an ongoing cost?
CSCP is maintained on a five-year cycle. ASCM currently requires 75 professional-development maintenance points every five years. A submission fee is payable when the maintenance application is filed, although ASCM does not currently publish a fixed amount in its public guidance.[8]
Membership can help with maintenance, but it is not mandatory.
ASCM’s current guidance awards maintenance points for qualifying professional-development activities, including membership. The five-year requirement matters after you earn CSCP, so it does not need to drive your initial exam budget unless you are planning the credential’s full lifecycle.
