CSCP entry is open. The eligibility application is gone.
ASCM removed the formal CSCP eligibility requirement on December 2, 2022. Candidates no longer have to prove a combination of education, work experience or previous certification before taking the exam, and there is no eligibility application to submit or approval to wait for.[3]
If you remember an older process, this is the change that matters. ASCM also states that people whose previous CSCP eligibility status was Denied or On Hold are now eligible to take the exam.[1]

Employers set their own hiring criteria. A job can still ask for a degree, ERP experience, industry exposure, leadership experience or a certain number of years in supply chain.

Can you take CSCP without a bachelor’s degree?

That rule applies to the certification exam. Employers make their own decisions about education for jobs. If the position you want asks for a degree, earning CSCP does not remove that hiring requirement. In other roles, a candidate may build a strong profile through experience, systems knowledge, analytical skills and progressively larger responsibility.
Does CSCP replace a degree?
No. They do different jobs. CSCP confirms that you passed an ASCM professional certification exam. A university degree represents a broader academic program. A recruiter can value both, one, or neither depending on the role.
No experience
Can you take CSCP with no supply-chain experience?
Yes. There is no current minimum work-experience requirement for CSCP. The practical learning curve can still be very different for a newcomer and someone who has spent years working with inventory, suppliers, planning or logistics.
In EduDelphi’s 13+ years of supply-chain training, we have seen why “years of experience” is a weak readiness test on its own. Someone with eight years in warehouse operations can understand logistics deeply and still be new to demand planning or sourcing. A supply-chain analyst with two years of experience may already work across planning, inventory, procurement and supplier data every week.
Experience changes your starting point. It no longer determines whether ASCM lets you sit the exam.
Should a fresher take CSCP?
You can. The better decision depends on the problem you are trying to solve. If the immediate issue is having no practical exposure, an internship, analyst role, ERP experience, Excel or Power BI capability, or hands-on operations work may deserve equal attention. CSCP makes more sense early when you already have a clear target role, relevant internship exposure, employer sponsorship or a strong supply-chain academic base.

Eligibility is easy to state. Readiness is messier. The learner’s job title, number of years worked and academic background rarely tell the whole story.
Functional depth can hide big gaps.
A strong planner may know forecasting and inventory very well while having limited exposure to logistics, supplier relationships or sourcing decisions.
Job titles can be misleading.
Two people called “Supply Chain Analyst” may do completely different work. One builds reports. The other works across suppliers, planning, inventory and operations.
Career changers bring useful anchors.
Finance, engineering, IT and commercial professionals usually recognize parts of CSCP quickly. Their unfamiliar areas are simply different.
Beginners need business context.
When someone has never dealt with a supplier, inventory shortage or service-level decision, the scenario needs more explanation before the answer becomes intuitive.
Breadth is where experienced specialists get stretched.
The familiar module is rarely the problem. The challenge starts when a decision crosses into functions the learner has never owned.
Scenario thinking matters early.
Candidates make faster progress when they ask what changes elsewhere in the chain after a sourcing, inventory, planning or logistics decision changes.

The eligibility rule does not change the assessment. ASCM currently uses one 150-question exam covering eight modules. Of those 150 questions, 130 are scored and 20 are unscored pretest items. Candidates receive 3.5 hours of testing time, and ASCM uses a scaled score from 200 to 350 with 300 as the passing standard.[2]

After passing
Eligibility gets you to the exam. CSCP also has a maintenance cycle.
Once earned, CSCP is a maintained professional certification. ASCM currently requires 75 professional-development maintenance points every five years to keep the designation valid. If a certification is not maintained on time, ASCM’s current rules move it into suspension and then expiration if the requirement remains unresolved.[5]
This is separate from eligibility. You do not need maintenance points before the exam. They matter after you become certified.
Credential fit
Open entry does not make CSCP the right first credential for everyone.
Choose by the work you want to deepen. Eligibility is almost identical across ASCM’s current certification family, so the easiest entry route is a poor way to decide.
Planning and inventory
If your job is centred on demand, supply, materials, inventory, MRP or scheduling, CPIM may fit the immediate capability gap more closely.
